#71 DIECAST LAMP POST

Built from 1949 until 1959. This long running sturdy gray diecast lamp post stands 6" tall. The single piece base was topped with a friction-fit translucent plastic housing. A bayonet-type light bulb provides the lighting. Electrical leads dangled beneath the base which has two holes for screw down purposes. The "LIONEL" name is embossed on the base. These were very popular fixtures for lighting up layouts and evolved in later years into all-plastic lamp posts.
