Once again Lionel split the catalog's in 1989. For one year only in 89, they were labeled "Toy Fair Edition", to correspond with the annual NYC Toy Fair in February of every year. This edition actually came out in winter of 1988, hence the "Pre-Toy Fair Edition" title. 20 Color paged new design featuring pictures of B&W old trains in the background with new color Lionel trains in the foreground. This catalog consisted mostly of the Collector Line with some traditional rolling stock and Accessories, S Gauge American Flyer, and Lionel's new Classic Prewar line(made by MTH for Lionel). New items included; Reading 4-6-2 steamer and caboose, U.P. Dash 8 and extented vision caboose, Western Maryland SW-1 switcher Fallen Flags #4 Frt. set, CP SD-40 Limited Frt. set, Amtrak GG-1 and aluminum passenger cars, S.F. Burro crane, Animated Refreshment Stand, U.P. Intermodal Crane, Rail Scope in O, HO, and Large scale, American Flyer C&O Alco PA-1 AA passenger set, and a remake of the 1930's tinplate 44E electric with 800 series Frt. cars. A really great catalog design, with fantasic product line. It continues to get better under Kughn's leadership. |
