The Korean War again took its toll on Lionel, no magnetraction steamers, and boxes had OPS stamp. New items included the classic 2345 WP F3's, 2031 RI and 2032 Erie's AA alco's, 523 SF and 624 C&O switchers. The only new pieces of rolling stock were 6460 crane, 3520 searchlight car, and 3474 WP operating boxcar. The most noted innovation of the year was the introduction of the extruded-aluminum 2500 series passenger cars, that Lionel copied from AMT. This catalog also featured the new 2190W Santa Fe 2343 F-3 AA Super Speedliner set. The centerfold shot of this set is one best ever for Lionel. |
