1953 was a very good year at Lionel. Magne-Traction was reintroduced as the Korean conflict bagan to subside and the magnetic metal became widely available again. Returning to the engine lineup were No. 2046, 736, and 681. New steam engines included No. 2037, 2055, and 685. Third generation F-3s were introduced as well with t he production of the 2353 Santa Fe, 2354 NYCS, and 2355 Western Pacific. However, these engines featured less detailing. New rolling stock for 1953 included the 6417 N5C "porthole" caboose, 6415 Sunoco three dome tank car, 3484 PRR operating boxcar, and the first four 6464 series boxcars; -1 Western Pacific, -25 Great Northern, -50 Minneapolis and St. Louis, and -75 Rock Island. |
