2363 ILLINOIS CENTRAL F3 AB WITH BLACK LETTERS

Illinois Central F3 AB, made from 1955 until 1956, brown painted orange molded body with orange lower quarter and yellow rubber-stamped detailing stripes, louvered roof and closed port holes, rubber-stamped lettering, "Illinois Central" decal on nose, one piece ornamental horns, raised molded cab door ladder, window shell, number boards and headlight lens, black chassis with black painted pilot and chemically blackened side frames, twin vertical motors, Magnetraction, three position E-unit, lighted, horn, and with operating coupler on pilot and diecast fixed couplers at all other ends. The A unit was molded in gray plastic, while the B unit was molded in orange plastic. Two variations are known to exist: 1) Early 1955 production with unpainted orange B unit stripe and most typically with brown rubber-stamped lettering, and 2) Later production with orange painted B unit stripe over orange mold and most typically with black rubber-stamped lettering.
