Built in 1951 and 1952. This engine is basically a 681 that, because of the shortage of magnetic material during the Korean War, Magnetraction could not be used, so Lionel reverted back to the 671 number designation. The tender has 2046W stamped on the frame, bar-end four wheel trucks, and "PENNSYLVANIA" heat-stamped lettering in white. There is a hole between the first and second pair of drive wheels where the magnets for Magnetraction would have been placed. The cab came stamped with or without the RR (re-run) printed below the 671 number. |
