2458 PENNSYLVANIA DOUBLE DOOR BOX CAR (ALL METAL)

| This P.R.R. double door box car was built from 1946 until 1948. The body was a carry-over from before World War II. The built date on the side of the car is "3-41". However, it was adapted to Post-War production and given diecast, staple-end trucks with coil couplers on both ends. The body and doors are all metal, and there is a separately applied "air brake system" attached to the bottom of the frame. It also has a metal brake wheel. Two of the ladders to the roof are separately applied, while two are part of the body mold. Please note we have found the car with two different numbers - X2458 and X2758 (low and high couplers respectivly). |
