| This is a terrific WWII era hardcover book showing great pictures and historical text of the Lackawanna motive power from Hoboken, NJ. to Chicago, IL. There are 102 pages of well photographed pictures in black and white. Why only black and white? Well, this was before color film technology became available to the general public. The movie industry in Hollywood, CA. was making great strides in color photography and WWII provided the push to the public in the later part of the 1940's. Most of these photos were shot prior to WWII. The only color shots are found on the rear cover. Front cover is a color illustration by A. Harmantas done in 1998. This is a must for the USA railroad history buff. |
